Overview

In this article, we'll explain how AAC apps are installed on the QuickTalker Freestyle device. Understanding the installation process will help you familiarize yourself with the steps involved in working with these apps, ensuring you have the knowledge you need to successfully set up and begin using your chosen AAC app on the QuickTalker Freestyle.

Different types of application implementations

The QuickTalker Freestyle offers multiple ways to implement AAC apps, depending on whether the app is a one-time purchase or a subscription-based application.

We can install one-time purchase apps directly on the device without additional steps. However, the installation process differs if the app is subscription-based. Currently, subscription-based apps cannot be remotely managed on the QuickTalker Freestyle, so they require manual intervention for setup.

While we anticipate possible future updates to this process to subscription-based apps, there is no additional information available at this time.

Remotely managed Applications

These are applications we can remotely install, troubleshoot, and manage on the QuickTalker Freestyle device, requiring no additional setup.

Please note this is a list of our devices' 10 most popular AAC applications. Most AAC apps from the Apple App Store can be installed on the QuickTalker Freestyle if they qualify as an AAC application. (Implementation methods for each app may vary.)

Subscription-based Applications

These are applications we are unable to remotely manage, that will need to be configured manually, by request, or inside an ableCARE meeting.

TD Snap Subscription – To get TD Snap on the QuickTalker Freestyle device, you will need to schedule a meeting with the ableCARE team. They will then assist you in setting up the TD Snap subscription during a Zoom meeting.

Proloquo Subscription – To get a Proloquo subscription, simply request the app using the app request form below. Our team will create an account and send the login for you to use.

Applications with In-App Purchases

To obtain an AAC application that includes in-app purchase add-ons, please use the warranty service form linked below to submit your request. Our ableCARE team will provide you with an app code to redeem in the App Store and an App Store gift card to cover the in-app purchase cost. Please note that you’ll need to download the app from the App Store to complete the in-app purchase, so we supply both the app code and the gift card.
